Whats the domain registration process?
1. Once you’re sure the website address you want to register.
2. Search for the domain availability using our search tool.
3. You will be presented with options, select the domain(s) and add them to your cart and complete the checkout process.
4. Wait for the domain/ DNS to propagate. This can take up to 24 hours.
How do I check if a domain is available?
Once satisfied, simply click the “order now” button and proceed with checkout.
How much is a domain name?
How long does it take to register a domain name?
Your domain is registered at registry level as soon as you complete the checkout process with us, (with the exeption of .zw domains that can take upto 72 hours to register), but it can take between 24 and 72 hours for a domain name to become visible on the internet as it globally updates. This applies for all domain names regardless of extension or registrar. However, in the majority of cases your domain name will be live within a few hours.
Do I need web hosting to buy a domain name?
You don’t have to buy web hosting with us, but we strongly recommend it to take advantage of our powerful hosting platforms and seamless, trouble-free services that have all been carefully developed to work well together. You can find out more about our web hosting plans on our Web Hosting page.
Who owns the domain name after registration?
The domain is always registered in your name, or, if you’re working on someone’s behalf, your customer’s name. Therefore you have full rights and control over it; we never register customer domains in our name.
How can I pay for my domain names and do I get an invoice?
You can pay using a credit/debit card, Paypal, Stripe or Paynow. We do not accept cheque or cash. You will automatically receive an invoice by email and you can view and print your invoices at any time through your uHostAfrica Clientzone Area.
How do I renew my domain name?
Can I transfer domain names at any time?
Your Clientzone Area gives you the ability to transfer most domain names at any time, whether to another uHostAfrica account or to another hosting company. Some domain name extensions will have a 60 day period where you cannot transfer in or out. We will never charge you for transferring out, as we think our domain hosting is so feature-filled that you won’t want to transfer out.
